The South East Independent Living (SEIL) Program is a six bed residential program for DYS-involved older male adolescents ranging in age from 17-21 years old. We provide individualized programming, including educational, vocational, recreational, and clinical; while also teaching independent living skills. Our ultimate goal is to help our youth transition from residential supervision to living independently in the community. We believe in creating an experience here that is unique to each individual’s own goals, skills, and motivation to succeed. Therefore, each member of SEIL can have a different experience based on their own abilities and strengths. Most youth referred to the program will have already acquired many DBT skills, and we will continue to reinforce those skills through weekly Advocate Reports as well as DBT skill groups. SEIL’s vision is based on the belief that every young person served by the program will become a valued, productive member of the community, and will use their time here as a launching point for their continued success post-DYS commitment.
